The Proposal Writer, directly responsible to the General Manager, provides on-going consulting support to non-profit corporations with proposal writing.
Eligible Candidates:
This position is being offered under the Job Creation Partnerships Employment Benefit. To be eligible for this position you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be an unemployed individual who has established a claim for Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits OR
- Be an unemployed individual whose EI benefit period ended within the last three (3) years OR
- Be an individual who established and was paid a claim for EI maternity or parental benefits within the past five (5) years and is re-entering the labour force.
Essential Functions:
- Research areas where proposals can be improved/enhanced for Non-Profit success
- Research what kinds of funding and support/resources are available to non-profits
- Identity and develop a database of new & existing non-profits that require assistance with proposal writing
- Work with Communications Officer to advise area non-profits about opportunities for partnerships, funding, and resources to aid economic and business development
- Provide assistance to local non-profits with developing/refining proposal writing skills by determining proposal concept; identifying/clarifying opportunities/needs; providing feedback
- Responsible for preparing, coordinating, and evaluating workshop and information sessions re: proposal writing for non-profits
- Design and conduct a satisfaction survey by recording and evaluating participation and preferences of proposal writing users and workshop participants
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from post-secondary program in Business or related field
- Two to three years relevant experience OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
- Previous experience working with non-profits
- Previous experience with writing proposals
- Superior computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Proficient in use of general office equipment
- Proofreading skills
- Ability to work independently on several projects concurrently
- Possess excellent organizational and creative thinking skills
- Project management experience an asset
- Travel throughout Middlesex County may be required
Additional Information:
- Hours of work: 30 per week (some evening meeting time may be required)
- Access to personal vehicle and a valid driver's license is required
- Remuneration $423.00 per week + travel allowance
