MARKETING & OUTREACH PROJECT OFFICER (LITERACY LINK SOUTH CENTRAL) *4 POSITIONS AVAILABLE*

Important note regarding this job posting:  This position is funded through Ontario's Job Creation Partnership, an employment program provided by Employment Ontario.  To qualify for this employment opportunity, you must be unemployed and meet one of the following conditions:

  • have established a current claim for Employment Insurance benefits; or
  • have previously been the recipient of Employment Insurance benefits that ended within the past three years; or
  • have established a claim for Employment Insurance maternity or parental benefits and were paid benefits within the past five years, and are re-entering the labour force after having left it to care for newborn or newly adopted children.
Job Description:  Successful candidates will spend 42 weeks with Literacy Link South Central, Employment Services and London's Cultural Associations promoting Adult Literacy programs.  Using videos and digital storytelling, Marketing and Outreach Project Officers will outline programming specific to different Adult Literacy organizations so referrals to those programs are made effectively.  They will also develop a video storytelling campaign promoting Literacy programs to potential learners from various cultural backgrounds. A component of this job will be to host community round tables, create marketing material to promote the videos, meet directly with those who may show the videos to their clients, and gather feedback on the videos from a variety of sources.

Successful applications will have:
  • Intermediate to excellent computer skills, with a solid foundation in Microsoft Word and comfort in Excel
  • An understanding of advertising and media, with experience in video production being an asset
  • The ability to build relationships with members of diverse communities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A background in customer service or client relations
  • A Secondary School diploma (preferred)
Additional Skills:
  • Candidates with connections to London's diverse cultural communities will be given additional consideration
  • Prior knowledge of Adult Literacy and Employment Services would be helpful but are not essential

Salary:  $423.00 weekly for 32 hours per week
