INFORMATION EDITOR - ADULT LITERACY CURRICULUM (LITERACY LINK SOUTH CENTRAL) *4 POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Job Description:  Successful candidates will work with a variety of adult literacy programs over the course of 42 weeks to edit learner resources and task-based exercises to align with Ontario's Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework.  Candidates will perform a needs assessment at Literacy Agencies throughout London, including those that specialize in French language and Deaf/blind literacy.  They will identify the varied and specific writing and editing needs of each literacy agency, and pinpoint areas for editing support. It will be the responsibility of successful candidates to quickly react to the changing writing/editing needs of programs, which will include editing material into plain language for easier translation into American Sign Language (ASL).

Successful applicants will have:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated writing and editing abilities
  • Intermediate to excellent computer skills with a solid foundation in Microsoft Word and comfort in Excel
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A Secondary School diploma (preferred)
  • A prior knowledge of adult literacy would be welcome but is not essential.
Anticipated Start Date:  February 2, 2014

Salary:  $423.00 weekly for 32 hours per week.
