Youth Consultant (Strathroy)---Part time

POSITION FILLED

Part- Time (35 hours every 2 weeks) Youth Consultant, NEXT WAVE YOUTH CENTRE - STRATHROY

Youth Opportunities Unlimited is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Youth Consultant, Next Wave Youth Centre (NWYC), Strathroy, reporting to the Team Leader. This position is responsible for working with a variety of clients on the development of life skills and connecting them with education and employment opportunities. Qualified candidates possess exceptional communication and organization skills, a high degree of initiative, work well in a fast paced and dynamic environment and hold values that match our corporate vision and values of being client centre, quality driven, fun, community focused and operating with integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide intake, assessment and case management services when needed; including referrals to other agencies where appropriate
• Guide and assist clients to locate potential employment, educational opportunities or community supports
• Collect and input data to track service use and outcomes
• Coordinate, host and facilitate special events or workshops for employers, community partners and youth
• Provide one on one and group support to clients on a variety of topics
• Maintain and enhance relationships with multiple service providers that are co-located at the Centre
• Develop recommendations for new initiatives and revisions to existing programs
• Assist with the production and sales of Market Quality Preserves

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of post secondary education at a college or university level in a human/ social services, sales or marketing
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with youth, employers and community partners
• Demonstrated understanding of YOU’s blended model of service and the diverse nature of programming
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meeting targets and deadlines
• Upholds and models the Mission, Vision and Values of YOU
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint
• Access to reliable transportation
• Flexibility in scheduling to meet program needs
• Demonstrated experience working with youth
• Ability to build relationships, negotiate, persuade, manage conflict and work with diverse clients
• Knowledge of Middlesex County and specifically Strathroy’s labor market and community supports for young people
