SUPPORT WORKER NEEDED - PARKHILL

Support is required for a young girl with developmental disabilities.  Support would involve both in-home and community support/respite.  Support worker must have hands on experience supporting individuals and be creative in planning low cost community outings.  Behavioural strategies are shared with the support worker and training will be provided.

Rate of Pay:  $18/hr. + reimbursement for mileage used while supporting this individual

Shifts Required:  Saturday afternoons for 5 hours; Sundays for 5 hours as well as the opportunity to attend a church service with the support worker.  Some evening support opportunities throughout the week as well for 3 hour shifts.

The Women's Rural Resource Centre of Strathroy and Area ("WRRC") is a non-profit agency whose mandate is to support women and children whose lives have been affected by woman abuse.  We provide counselling, transition support, advocacy, residential services, public education, advocacy, and second stage housing.

Our team of dedicated support workers, counsellors and advocates work to support women who are living with violence in their lives.  We support women and their children to be safe and make good decisions for their families - we offer a helping hand and the support they need.  We also work with people who hurt and are looking for an opportunity to change their patterns of violence and live in peace with their family.

The WRRC is seeking a strong woman-centred Recreation Coordinator Summer Student for a part-time, 8 week contract opportunity.

Summary:  Working 30 hours/week, this role will support the recreational needs of women and children served by the Program team.  As this position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs 2014, summer students must be under the age of 30 and returning to full-time education in the fall of 2014.

Reporting Relationship:  This position reports to the Program Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide positive role modelling to children and youth engaged in WRRC services

The Women's Rural Resource Centre of Strathroy and Area ("WRRC") is a non-profit agency whose mandate is to support women and children whose lives have been affected by woman abuse.  We provide counselling, transition support, advocacy, residential services, public education, advocacy, and second stage housing.

Our team of dedicated support workers, counsellors and advocates work to support women who are living with violence in their lives.  We support women and their children to be safe and make good decisions for their families - we offer a helping hand and the support they need.  We also work with people who hurt and are looking for an opportunity to change their patterns of violence and live in peace with their family.

The WRRC is seeking a strong woman-centred Administration & Volunteer Support Summer Student for a part-time, 8 week contract opportunity.

Summary:  Working 30 hours/week, this role will support the staff team with administrative duties.  This support will include providing support to the Organizational Support Team.  As this position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs 2014, summer students must be under the age of 30 and returning to full time education in the fall 2014.

Reporting Relationship:  This position reports to the Finance Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Organizational Support Team by performing administrative duties and projects as required.
  • Provide a welcoming environment to all individuals having contact with WRRC either in person or indirectly
  • Answer telephones and direct the caller to the appropriate person/program.  Utilize Outlook Calendars when necessary to assist in scheduling of appointments.
  • Coordinate volunteers as needed to facilitate volunteer requests
  • Assist in accepting of donations for the food bank, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed
  • Organize and maintain the food bank as needed
  • Assist with Walk-a-Mile fundraiser preparations

Rate of Pay:  $18 - $20/hr, depending on experience.

Responsibilities include:

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years related administration experience
