PSW's/Attendant Care (London)---Part time, full time

Cheshire Homes of London Inc. currently has permanent and temporary part-time opportunities for Personal Attendants and Personal Support Workers.
Cheshire is a non-profit organization that has dedicated over 30 years to meeting the attendant service needs of people with physical disabilities in London and five surrounding counties. With Cheshire’s Supportive Housing, London Outreach and Supports for Daily Living programs, we assist adults with physical disabilities or frail seniors to live independently in their communities through the provision of personal support services that are mutually respectful and value the contributions of all. Responsibilities of this role include but not necessarily limited to: personal grooming, bathing, washing and hygiene; toileting and routine, stabilized bowel/bladder care; getting up and going to bed; transfers, lifts and other assisted mobility needs; meal preparation, serving clean up and assisted eating; cleaning and laundry; escort to appointments, range of motion and general fitness exercises; injectable insulin; tracheotomy care; and intermittent catheterization.

To be considered for the Outreach positions, applicants
must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within London. You are available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Rotating Back-up pager and On-call pager responsibilities will be a normal part of your working week in this program.
A PSW designation is not a mandatory requirement to work within the London Outreach Program but experience in personal care and/or household management is preferred. A police records check including vulnerable positions screening must have been completed within the last six months or will be required to be obtained prior to employment at the applicant’s expense. We offer successful candidates a starting pay rate of $16.69 per hour, and compensation for mileage and travel time. Cheshire provides on the job training and orientation as well as pay in lieu of benefits on completion of a probationary period. In addition, emergency first aid and CPR courses are provided free of charge to all Cheshire employees requiring current certification. Machinist/Tool and Die (Strathroy)---Full time

Local manufacturer looking for experienced machinists or tool and die makers to start immediately.  Certification is not required, but would be considered an asset.   Duties may include:

1) Calculate dimensions and tolerances.

2) Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

3) Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.

4) Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.

5) Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.

Janitor/Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)

The Janitor/Maintenance Technician is responsible for the ongoing cleaning, maintenance, and repair of the organization’s new physical building and grounds. Tasks include cleaning, building maintenance, environmental/safety regulation compliance, grounds maintenance, equipment repair, event planning, space assignments, furniture moving, etc. 

Core Duties/Responsibilities:
·         Weekly cleaning of facility;
·         Lawn cutting, snow removal and property maintenance;
·         Minor repairs to property and equipment;
·         Supervise major renovations and/or equipment repair, installations, etc.;
·         Prepare & maintain annual budget for facility maintenance and repair;
·         Monitor inventory and expenses in relation to budget, present quarterly variance reports, and make recommendations for improved efficiencies ;
·         Attend meetings with contractors, inspectors, and the like regarding work to be carried out;
·         Review vendor contracts for competitiveness;
·         Develop building safety/evacuation procedures and inform tenants;
·         Obtain insurance certificates from tenants and contractors (when applicable);
·         Develop a schedule, and carry out regular building operational maintenance functions and audit for performance;
·         Other duties as assigned by management to ensure the effective physical operation of the organization.


Required skills/Knowledge/Experience:

·         Graduation from a minimum one year College certificate program in a related field is        preferred, along with a min. of 2 years experience in a similar position.
·         Working knowledge of and experience in skilled trades and landscaping is imperative.
·         Experience with preparation of annual property budgets.
·         Solid verbal and written communication skills.
         Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

·         Hours of work: flexible shifts of approx. 5 hours per week (evening/weekend set up/maintenance time may be required).
·         Access to personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license is required.
·         Remuneration: $11.25 per hour

Early Childhood Educator (Strathroy)--Full time

Holds a current Early Childhood Educator certificate and is Registered with the college of ECE’s. Is certified in First aid and CPR.  The Early Childhood Educator teacher plans and implements the programs created for the children, daily interaction and contact with parents and children. The Early Childhood Educator is directly responsible to the Director and Board of Directors.
Duties include but are not restricted to:
Ø  Planning, supervising, and implementing the program for child care in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Centre.
Ø  Gearing the program to the needs of individual children, with concern for their interest, challenges, special talents, and individual styles and paces of learning.
Ø  Considering individual children in relationship to their cultural and socio-economic background.
Ø  Observing, recording and reporting each child’s development

Ø  Being responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the child care room.
Ø  Preparing plans for each day’s activities.
Ø  Forming positive relationships with all the children
Ø  Appreciating each child’s differences and sensibilities
Ø  Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences
Ø  Daily communication with parents regarding their child’s day
Ø  Conducting parent/caregiver conferences on children’s adjustment and behaviour (with Director’s prior approval)
Ø  Wisely utilizing all supplies.
Ø  Assisting in public-relations events sponsored by the Centre
Ø  Maintaining order and tidiness to all areas of the Daycare
Ø  Keeping all staff informed regarding matters pertaining to your group
Ø  Maintain strict confidentiality
Ø  Documenting and reporting serious occurrences
Ø  Preparation and administration of medications as defined in the Day Nurseries Act
Ø  Maintain familiarity with the Day Nurseries Act, Policies and Procedures, Safe and Healthy child manual and the Child Abuse Handbook.
